General
Information |
| * Kennesaw Mountain High School offers
English courses for both college-preparatory students and students
who are pursuing technical preparatory diplomas. |
|
| * All students are required to obtain 4
units of English during high school. |
|
| * KMHS is on a block schedule.
Students take 4 courses each semester and obtain one unit of credit
for each course. Students take an English class in either the
fall semester or the spring semester. All courses are 90
minutes long and meet for a full semester (85-90 days). |
|
| * KMHS offers regular English courses which
are taught on level, honors classes which are taught at an
accelerated level, and applied courses which are taught on grade
level but also include applications specific to technology and
business. |
|
| * KMHS offers two Advanced Placement
courses during the senior level: A.P. Literature and
Composition and A.P. Language and Composition.
Click here for more information. |
|
| * All Honors and AP English students are required to
complete summer reading.
Please see page for assignments. |
|
| * Most English courses are taught on the
300 English Hall (upstairs). The hall includes 16 classrooms
and a workroom. The workroom is off limits to students unless
they are accompanied by a teacher. |
|
| * KMHS English Department is composed of
twenty-one teachers. (Since one-third of the teachers are UGA
graduates, be very careful on the English Hall if you are a Georgia
Tech fan.) |
|
| * All teachers are available for extra help
and make-up work for students. See your teacher to determine
the specific times when he or she is available for extra help. |
